Matematika nie je len štúdium vzorcov či skúmanie abstraktných štruktúr kdesi za zatvorenými dverami univerzít. Naopak, jej štruktúrované a rigorózne poznanie dnes tvorí neviditeľnú kostru nášho sveta. Má čoraz väčší presah do každodenných aplikácií – od algoritmov, ktoré nám odporúčajú filmy, cez zložité modely predpovedajúce počasie až po šifrovanie chrániace naše bankové účty. Matematika nám umožňuje nielen chápať svet okolo nás, ale posúva hranice nevídaného technologického pokroku.
A funguje to obojsmerne. Dynamický vývoj v technológiách a komplexné výzvy moderného sveta spätne inšpirujú vznik úplne nových matematických odvetví.
Rita Fioresi: What AI can do for math and what math can do for AI
Large language models have rapidly changed the way we search for information, program and, increasingly, the way we do science. But what happens when a scientist starts thinking with an AI rather than simply asking it for answers?
We will explore how an LLM can become an unusual collaborator: remarkably good at making connections, changing viewpoints and generating ideas, yet capable of surprisingly convincing mistakes. Conversely, mathematics may provide some of the language needed to understand why these systems work at all.
No knowledge of AI or advanced mathematics will be assumed. Along the way, we will encounter a few deeper questions: What does it mean for a machine to reason? Why can an AI appear to understand us? The aim of the talk is not to answer such questions, but to stimulate curiosity and discussion, and to explore how we might interact productively with this remarkable new technology.
Dennis The: Beyond the Hype: What Is Quantum Computing?
Quantum computing promises to solve problems beyond the reach of today's computers. Governments and industry are investing billions in the race to develop quantum technologies and achieve quantum advantage. But beyond the headlines and the hype... what is quantum computing actually all about?
Join us for a lively introduction to the strange world of quantum information. We'll discover how qubits differ from ordinary bits, explore the three key ideas of quantum computing — superposition, measurement, and entanglement — and see how these lead to new possibilities for computation and cryptography. Along the way, we'll separate the science from the hype and glimpse some of the elegant mathematics behind the buzzwords. All are welcome. No prior knowledge of mathematics or physics is required — just curiosity.

Cartan geometry, Lie, Integrable Systems, quantum group Theories for Applications - CaLISTA aims to advance cutting-edge research in mathematics and physics through a systematic application of the ideas and philosophy of Cartan geometry, a thorough Lie theoretic approach to differential geometry.
